March 22, 1956 - December 11, 2024
Robert Neal (Bob) Thompson, 68, of Sheridan passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Wyoming Retirement Home in Basin, Wyoming.
Bob was born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming. After graduating high school, he attended a trade school for welding and then spent many years working as a cowboy for a family ranch and the PK Ranch before deciding to change careers to spend more time with family. After leaving the ranching industry, he worked in various trades until going back to school to get an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Survey Technology. He then worked in CADD and surveying until health forced his retirement.
Bob devoted much of his free time to Taekwon-Do, and this was a favored family activity with him and his two children all earning their black belts. He was an assistant instructor for many years, eventually obtaining the rank of 5th degree black belt. Bob’s other hobbies included reading, fishing, hunting, target shooting and reloading. He was excellent at working with his hands, and later in life was increasingly active with his church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Thompson, two children, Colleen Thompson and Joel Thompson, his brother Steve Thompson, and other extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on January 11th at The Rock Church at 10am in Sheridan, Wyoming, with a reception and light refreshments to follow.
