Patrick MARSHALL 1949 - 2024 SHS 1967

September 1, 1948 - October 13, 2024.

Patrick Marshall passed away October 13, 2024, at his home in Spring Branch, Texas. He was seventy-five.

The son of Nolan and Helen Marshall, Patrick was born in 1949, raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, and attended Sheridan schools. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and this profession provided him with wide-ranging experiences. Patrick’s first project was on the Alaska pipeline where he made lifelong friends, Hernan and Eugene. In Saudi Arabia, he built war-zone airfields; at one-point, incipient combat forced an emergency air flight to England. This trip back became a celebration he often laughed about.

Besides his varying engineering projects, Patrick and his wife, Nanette, developed an exotic bird farm, Rockledge Aviary. Both lovers of birds, at one time they were raising over a hundred pairs of several varieties. For a fellow who once said he didn’t want to own anything that didn’t fit in his truck, this endeavor was something of a miracle. He loved animals.

Patrick was an easy-going individual in some regards, but as his sister said, if he did a thing he was going “to do it right.” A nephew described him as a rough and tumble guy, who he remembered as very kind and gentle. His dry sense of humor made him a family favorite. A “happy” in their lives, he will be sorely missed.

Patrick married Nanette deSambourg on June 9, 1996. She survives him as do two sisters, Sandra Marshall Olsson and Linda Marshall Robbins, and his brother-in-law, James Olsson. He leaves step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, and older sister, Marilyn Marshall Kirkman, preceded him in death.

Patrick died in the arms of the Lord, having requested and been administered the last rites of the Catholic Church.

His ashes will be interred near the graves of his parents and other family members at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming.

If you wish to remember Patrick, donate to a charity of your choice or plant a tree. (He did work for the Forestry Service college summers.
