Neil Ansel Brown, son of J. Neilson and Esther (Barthel) Brown, was born August 3, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, where Neil was graduated from Sheridan High School and began his college career at Sheridan College. The family subsequently moved to Ogden, Utah, where Neil studied at Weber State College, and back to Denver, where Neil received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado Denver.

Neil was employed with various concerns, including his father's furniture store in Sheridan, the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden and American Furniture Company in Denver, but the joy of his life was working in Medical Records for the University of Colorado Medical Center in its several iterations. After retirement Neil returned to the medical records department in a part-time capacity.

On June 25, 2024, Neil was discovered to have died peacefully at home in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 23 days.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and their spouses: Marshall Brown (Rebecca) of Carroll, Iowa; Ervin Brown, M. D. (Shirley) of Houston, Texas; and Marvin Brown (Debra) of Leadville, Colorado; a nephew, Paul Brown (Holly) of Ankara, Turkey; a niece, Sarah Groth of Auburn, Nebraska, other relatives and numerous friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and the rest of their generation.
