On March 14,2024, Darrell Myers Westrick, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Severna Park, MD, at the age of 79 with his loving wife, Mary E. Caldwell, at his side.

Born on January 9, 1945, Darrell grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming. After graduating as Valedictorian in 1963 from Sheridan High School, he relocated to Annapolis, MD to attend St. John's College. A rigorous scholar, he completed his bachelor's degree in 1967.

He enjoyed a long career in computer engineering both as a programmer and as an instructor in various sites throughout the country.

In his free time, he enjoyed annual trips to Rehoboth Beach, DE, biking on The B & A trail, sailing, swimming, as well as walking his Papillons, Gracie and Lucy. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. Most of all, he was a bibliophile and had a large library that he enjoyed sharing with others. He also supported the ACLU and The Southern Poverty Law Center.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Darrell M. and Rosabelle E. (Wolfe) Westrick and his younger sister, Wendy Jo Prestfeldt (Carl). He is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. Caldwell, his brother, Rick Westrick (Linda), his son from a previous marriage, Darrell E. Westrick (Margaret), his adopted daughter, Nicolle J. Miller (Benjamin), and his three grandchildren, Llywellyn, Sarah and Rosalie Westrick.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.
