Sandra Jean WIMER Gray 1940 - 2024 SHS 1958

Sandra Jean Gray, known affectionally as Sandy, passed away on June 28, 2024, at the age of 83 in Waco, TX.

Born on August 3, 1940, in Sheridan, WY, to parents Harry and Margaret Wimer. Sandy spent her youth in her birth town, enjoying the community and time in the mountains with her close knit family and attending Sheridan High School.

Sandy embarked on a career that reflected her nurturing spirit, initially working in medical office and dictation roles. Later, she joined forces with her husband, Paul Gray, in their insurance office.

Throughout her life, Sandy dedicated much of her time to volunteering, notably for youth advocate agencies and the St. Francis no-kill animal shelter in Buffalo, WY. Above all she was a loving wife and mother, and will be deeply missed by her family.

Her giving and loving nature was a testament to her profound faith, as she was an active member of the Episcopal Church among others. Sandy’s faith was an integral and vital part of her life, guiding her through her many endeavors and personal beliefs.

Sandy was also an avid skier, golfer, enjoyed camping and spending time in the mountains and walking her several dogs, activities that reflected her love for life and nature. She also inherited a dry and infectious sense of humor from her father.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Margaret Wimer; siblings, Alan and JoAnn Wimer; and her beloved husband and best friend, Paul Gray.

She leaves behind a loving family: daughters Constance Hansen, Valerie Wells, and Malissa Lance; son-in-laws Mike Hansen and Brandon Lance; grandchildren Megan, Joshua, Gunner, Mackenzie, Jacob, Hayden, and Hannah; and great-grandson Mason.

Sandy has been cremated, and her ashes will be returned to Wyoming by her family, as per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to animal causes she passionately supported, especially no-kill shelters, honoring her legacy of advocacy and compassion.
