Jerry Gene PHILLIPS 1939 - 2024 SHS 1957

Jerry Phillips, 85, of Meridian, Idaho, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2024. At the time of his passing, Jerry was surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on August 16, 1939 to Ruth and Jesse Phillips. After graduating from Sheridan High School in 1957, Jerry joined the US Marine Corp, serving his country around the world as a MP. He remained active and supported his fellow veterans throughout his life. After leaving the Marine Corp in 1960, he attended the University of Wyoming. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and earned his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1965.

Jerry was skilled in many things and had a very diverse professional career throughout his lifetime. He started out as a high school math teacher in Wyoming then transitioned to the oil and gas industry where he was employed by Standard Oil. His sales and service skills led him to positions with Pittsburg Des Moines Steel and later partial ownership of Casper Electronics. While at PDM, he excelled as the top salesman in the country for 8 years. A man of many talents, he returned to education as a substitute teacher before becoming the Manager for Godfather's Pizza. Jerry finished his professional career with Corrosion Monitoring Service by providing sales and service to oil rigs throughout the region for 17 years. When Jerry wasn't working, he was no stranger to the local golf courses. Through mutual friends and later at a golf outing, he met his future wife, Charlotte Baldwin. They were married in 1977 and made their home in Casper, Wyoming.

Jerry was an avid sports fan, following college and professional football and golf. Though he loved to play racquetball and downhill ski, his greatest passion was playing golf. If the weather was ok, he was playing. If the weather was questionable, he was still playing. He played, planned and ran many golf outings throughout the years. He especially enjoyed volunteering his time organizing and auctioneering the calcutta for the American Heart Association. In addition to his love for golf, Jerry served on the Board of Directors at the Casper Country Club, was a member of the Cowboy Joe Club and also led a Bible Study group at Highland Park Community Church.

After his retirement, Jerry and Charlotte became snowbirds traveling between Casper and Indio, California at Rancho Casa Blanca. Jerry was able to continue golfing every day, sometimes twice. In 2018, they left Casper and made Meridian, Idaho their home and continued to snowbird to Indio. Jerry loved watching and feeding the birds in his backyard. He loved spending time with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Portia Fiedler, his nieces, Cassandra and Andy Holman, Crystal Fiedler, Candice and Ben Garfin, and Catherine and Brett Cook. He always had a special place in his heart for his great nieces and nephews. Jerry's laugh, storytelling and ability to be the life of the party will be greatly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, his son David Baldwin (Christine), six grandchildren, Daniel and Taylor Baldwin, KayLyn Ballard (Blake), Madison and Cody Schollenbarger (Megan) and Tristyn Phillips, five great grandchildren, cousins Bev Loftin (Lloyd) and Larry Linn (Kara) both of Casper.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, KiKi Phillips.

At Jerry's request, there will be no services held.
