Nancy Kay Purkett, 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth with her family by her side.
She wyas born July 28, 1939 in Sheridan, Wyoming, daughter of Charles and Charlotte Johnson. She attended school in Sheridan where she graduated in 1957. She then moved to Chula Vista, California and continued her education in bookkeeping.
Nancy married James Duane Purkett on August 17, 1963, in Sheridan, Wyoming. They moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1968 and then to Forsyth in 1971, where they purchased Kent Autobody and were blessed with four children: Darin, Darci, Danae and Dalen. The two were each other's lifelong companions and enjoyed taking rides in the country and having friends and family over to enjoy the many holidays throughout the year.
Nancy was strong-willed and caring and looked forward to visiting with people in the community while out running errands. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling and spending time with her church family at the Ascension Episcopal Church. Her greatest accomplishment though, was her family. She treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and loved following them in their many activities.
She is survived by her children Darin (Kris) Purkett of Billings, Darci (Donald) Saeman of Glendive, Danae (Rian) Pinkerton of Forsyth and Dalen (Wendy) Purkett of Park City. Her grandchildren Dalaney (Ryan), Dannon and Damon Purkett; Darien Saeman; Davin, Daley, Daysa and Renley Pinkerton and Dawson, Danner and Decker Purkett. Her great granddaughter Porter Day. Her sister Sylvia Welsh. Her nephews Chris (BreeAnn) and Josh Purkett, Nathan, Cody and Nolan Davis. Her niece Dusta Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law Opal Purkett, her brothers-in-law Darwin Purkett and Doyle Davis and her husband Duane.
We will sorely miss her holiday cooking specials like chex party mix and tex mex dip and her family birthday reminders throughout the year.
A funeral service was held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Ascension Episcopal Church in Forsyth. Burial took place at the Forsyth Cemetery.
