FREELAND, WAâ"Betty Rose (Trembath) Sauer died peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2024, at home in Freeland, WA, from heart disease.
She was born on November 20, 1936, in Sheridan, WY. An optimist by nature, Betty was always there for all who came to her needing support and encouragement. She freely shared her love and lighthearted view of life with her large, extended family. She loved dogs, trees, people, and all of Godâs creations.
She grew up on a sugar beet farm on Big Goose Creek in Sheridan, WY with eight brothers and sisters. Her dad, Ned Trembath, was known as the Acme Antelope, winning two marathon races in the bitter cold of winter. Bettyâs mom described him as looking like a snowman, and covered in frost when he ran across the finish line. As the apple doesnât fall far from the tree, Betty and her sisters were known for their mental toughness and perseverance in the face of obstacles.
Betty married and moved with her family to California and then to Washington State. They raised their sons and their daughter with love, sharing their values of nature, music, and family and friends. Betty and her family enjoyed sailing on Puget Sound and hiking in the Cascade Mountains.
She later spent many years with her âBillâ, William Sauer of Casper, WY. They were active in their community and were members of the Petroleum Club. Bill and Betty enjoyed entertaining their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and business acquaintances in their homes at Lake Alcova, in Casper, and other Western states.
Betty was a talented interior decorator, and her homes were always beautiful, gracious, and welcoming. She delighted in having visitors and hosted countless family holidays and other gatherings seemingly effortlessly. She made people feel at home.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Sauer of Casper, WY, and her parents, siblings, and other loved ones.
She leaves here her sister, Cora Moser of Ranchester, WY; brother, Dean Trembath of Riverton, WY; sons: David Smith (Diane) of Yakima, WA, George âMikeâ Smith, of Clinton, WA, and Jane Crawford (Steve) of Stanwood, WA; grandchildren: Kristin, Jesse, Shane and Sophia and so many more.
Instead of flowers, her family suggests a donation to the Casper Humane Society (307-265-5439) and giving each person you love a hug as soon as possible!
