SHERIDAN - Mass of Christian Burial for Austin Thomas Redle, 75, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Church with Fr. Eugene Sullivan officiating. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Champion Funeral Home. Interment will follow Mass in the Elks Cemetery.
Mr. Redle died Dec. 18, 1995, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Sheridan.
He was born in Sheridan on May 23, 1920, the son of Frank R. and Marion E. Mooney Redle. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1938 and received an engineering degree from Marquette University in 1947 and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1957. In 1942, Mr. Redle joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and received a degree in meteorology. He was a 2nd Degree Lieutenant with the 13th Air Force Division in the Pacific and later was recommissioned as Captain and served as a photo intelligence officer during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was discharged on April 21, 1946.
On July 17, 1948, he married Irene M. Smith in Appleton, Wis. She preceded him in death on June 18, 1989.
Mr. Redle worked for General Electric for three years as a mechanical engineer. He returned to Sheridan and started practicing law with his brother, William "Bill" Redle, until his retirement in 1988.
He thoroughly enjoyed golf and made three holes-in-one at the Sheridan Country Club. He won the state golf championship in 1967. He was a member of the Sheridan Country Club, Elks Lodge No. 520 and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward, on Feb. 18, 1980.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Redle of Denver, a son, Thomas A. Redle of Sheridan; two sisters, Sr. Mary St Jude (Rosal) Redle of Leavenworth, Kan., and Marian Kuzma of Billings, Mont; three brothers, William 'Bill" of Sheridan, Frank of Torrington and Dave of Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
