OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - February 20, 2001

Sheridan native Helen Louise Martin, 89, died Feb. 12, 2001, at the Valley Care Center in Okanogan, Wash.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Precht's Methow Valley Chapel in Twisp, Wash., with Fr. Pat Kerst officiating.  Interment will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Sheridan to Joseph and Theresa Zowada.  She attended Sheridan High School.

She married Frank Martin, and they moved to Washington state.  They divorced in 1964.

She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 20 years and also worked for the Grower's Credit Union.  She spent most of her life in the Okanogan Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Stephanie, Anna and Ludine; brothers Joseph and Emil; and a daughter, Rosemarie.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Twisp; three brothers, Raymond Zowada of Coulee Dam, Henry Zowada of Casper and George Zowada of Cheyenne; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
