CLARA BLAKEMAN LEHMAN*,1953 JO ANN BOYD SCOTT, 1953 JOE SORRELL,1951
CLARA BLAKEMAN LEHMAN 1953 4/24/99 I have remained in Wyoming most of my life. I married Melvin Carroll in September, 1953, and we spent a couple
of years in California and Washington State when he was in the Navy. We returned to Wyoming after his discharge. He attended Sheridan College and the U. of Wyo. and
graduated in 1958. During those years I had babies, baby-sat others, and typed doctoral dissertations to earn extra income while he was in school.
We settled in Worland, Wy. where he taught and was an
elementary school principal. I was active in the Toastmistress Club and was a legal secretary. I had also worked in Sheridan as a legal sec. for John Raper, Sr. until
his death. In 1963 we moved to Riverton, Wy. and I have lived in or near Riverton since that time.
I have four children, two girls and two boys. They have
been a great pleasure in my life, and we spent the usual hours with Scouts, Little League, and multiple high school sports and other activities. A really fun time. Mel and I
separated in 1980 and divorced in 1981. That was not one of my lifetime goals and it took awhile to adjust. I have spent my working years in Riverton again as a legal
secretary for Gerry Spence & Frank Andrews, then a couple of years as a teachers aide to see if I wanted to complete my degree in education ( I never did). Then I went to work
as a medical secretary in a Family Practice group here, took some management courses, and became the Business Mgr. for the group. I found that trying to balance the egos
and eccentricities of eight M.D.s , manage their finances, and be the buffer between them and our 30+ staff of R.N.s, lab staff, x-ray people and office staff, was exhausting. I
spent eight years at it, and decided if I ever worked that hard again, it would be for myself!
I was still married to Mel at the time. He took a job as a
mobile crusher operater , so I left the medical clinic and traveled with him. I did the time keeping for the crew, figured the costs per ton on the production, loaded trucks
from the belt, weighed outgoing trucks, etc . We lived full time in a 5th wheel trailer & got to see a lot of the backroads and byways of Wyoming that I hadn't seen
before. I even tied dynamite strings onto the main line & dropped the dynamite into drill holes in a pit we had to blast near Lusk, Wy. I enjoyed the change of pace and
working away from the public and telephones for awhile. I was actually learning to enjoy the freedom of the single life with no family schedules or responsibility when along
came Herb Lehman, a guy I couldn't resist. Neither of us had any intention of marrying again (he had been widowed), so we dated for a year and a half having a lot of
fun. Then we realized when he had to be in Nebraska for an extended time to care for his mother, that we really missed and needed each other. We married in July, 1984,
and will have been happily married for 15 years this summer. How quickly the time has gone. He takes good care of me, spoils me, & puts up with my idiosyncrasies, and I love it.
My husband is a professional photographer who built his own studio here in Riverton. In addition to the usual portraits, weddings, etc. he developed an extensive
business in school photography, working all over the state. He had his own lab for printing and processing the pictures and he taught me to run the school lab portion of
the studio . He has sold the studio to his son who continues the business, and I continue to run the school lab for son, Randy.
I work about 5-6 months a year; and travel and play golf,
and play with my computer for the other six. I plan to work another 2 or 3 years to keep my insurance intact until I can get on Medicare. Then I look forward to full retirement.
Herb has two children; I have four; and between us we have 16 grandchildren, a couple of step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, and another great-something due in June.
I'm here to tell you Life is Still Good in Wyoming! Come by and see us sometime! Clara Return to the top:
JO ANN BOYD SCOTT 7/4/2000
Since high school, I spent 4 years at the U. of Wisconsin at La Crosse, with a double major in Physical Education
and Biology and two minors, Gen Science and Dance. (yes- that was 22 credits a semester, a load). My Dad took me to La Crosse telling me that if he didn't like the school
I wasn't staying. We were the last to check in the dorm. As the Dorm Mother took us to my room everyone popped out of their doors gaping at us. Dad had his hat and
boots on of course. Now there weren't any other parents with boots and a hat on--I remember at 18, being so embarrassed. He questioned the Dorm Mother intensively
while I held my breath, then gave me a hug and left. Can you imagine how many minutes I would have been allowed to stay if he walked into a coed dorm today? My,how things have changed!!
It was a fun four years along with lots of studying. I was astonished when I was elected homecoming queen, the first soph. ever. It was a very humbling experience. Those
were the days that we were warned by the Dean that we weren't allowed in downtown LaCrosse in slacks or jeans. We were to be ladies at all times. (and the winters were
-20 below) The first 5 years I taught, women weren't allowed to wear slacks to school and when you were pregnant you had to quit before you showed. Haven't things changed?
I married a fellow colleague in 1956 and lived in Wisconsin. We have three beautiful children, two boys and one girl. My daughter is a C.P.A. and one boy is an Outside Sales
Rep. with Porter Paints and the other one is a Court Reporter. Began teaching in 1960 as my husband was fighting a serious blood disease (thought to be caused by
insecticides) We lived in WI. until Aug. of 1974 when we moved to Florida. It was a hard decision as I was tenured at the U. of WI. at Whitewater. I had finished my Masters and had
all but my dissertation to finish when I left. However, it was a good choice as the sunshine is absolutely wonderful !! I found a Special Ed. teaching job . Later I spent 10
years in an Alternative High School teaching vocational and science in Sarasota, FL.
Oct.31, 1980 we were divorced.A sad day.I decided to relocate north of Sarasota. One can NEVER look back on
pain but must look ahead.
Now I never intended to remarry--ever, however I met this beautiful man and it was love at first sight.
We have been so happy for the last 16 years. He is very
special. After his retirement he began designing original gold and silver jewelry. He has been very busy with it. We travel as much as we can. We have moved to Asheville, N.C. near family. I have
three beautiful grandchildren, one girl and two boys. I taught for 38 years, P.E . Biology, General Science, Dance,Admn. and Special Ed. at the high school level. I
love teenagers as crazy as they are-just finished teaching adjunct Methods for FL. Southern U. here -two classes a year which pays for my computer toys. We just love Asheville, I feel so much at home in the
moutains. We are building a home and hope to be in it by Christmas,2000. If you are are ever this way, give us a call, we are in the phone book under L.A. Scott and love company.
My hobbies right now include traveling, genealogy research, technology gadgets, and visiting with friends. . Please keep in touch, Jo Ann Boyd Scott, 1953

The bio of my life as I know it. t all started a way back when I started my schooling in Sheridan when I
was in the 1st grade at Coffeen. After that year I moved to a rural school at Spring Willow, east of Sheridan, close to Wyarno, Wy. I spent the next
three years there. Joy Ash was the teacher at the time. Then I moved to another rural school at Plum Creek, also east of Sheridan and at Wyarno, WY. Joy Ash was the teacher there also. I spent the remaining grade
school years there through the eighth grade, and then rode the bus from Wyarno to Sheridan where I attended SHS. I graduated from there in 1951. After a brief stint at Sheridan Junior College, I joined the Army
(drafted in 1953) and spent the next three years traveling around the Far East, returning home in 1956. In the fall of 1956 I married Laura Brown from Buffalo, Wy.
We traveled all around the country, Texas, Montana, Canada, and Wyoming , moving back to Sheridan in 1963, working for the Coca Cola Bottling plant there. In 1966 I joined the Wyoming Highway Patrol and
was stationed in Laramie. I transferred to Douglas in 1971, where I spent the rest of my Patrol career. A wonderful time it was. I even had the
honor of flying the Patrol plane for two and a half years. Great Life. I retired from the Patrol in 1986 and after four years doing nothing , I joined the Federal Government in the Office of Motor Carrier Safety,
stationed in Sacramento, CA. After five years there I transferred to Yuma, AZ to help with the NAFTA Program, working the Border. On March 31st,
1999, I retired from Federal service. I now operate L. E. S. & Associates, still serving the trucking industry as best I can. We reside in Yuma on a
year-round basis, and other than some hot days in summer we really enjoy it.
Laura and I had six children, two of whom have passed away. We have
eight grandchildren, seven girls and one boy. We have two great grandchildren, one girl and one boy, not necessarily in that order. Our kids all reside in either Douglas, Guernsey or Torrington, with the
exception of one son who resides in Joplin, MO. I was pleased to get involved with the web page and have enjoyed the news as the SHS grads write in. Some I know and some I don't, probably just don't remember
them. It has been a few years. Catch me on the internet at any of the following: jlleros@cs.com ICQ # 20761948 IM - J553767J Joe Sorell

Shirley Bohlin Genereaux 1953
I was born at Sheridan Memorial to Josephine Bohlin and Markus Bohlin.
I am the youngest of four. My mother was born on Canby St. and my parents bought their first home on Canby, which my spouse and I bought from my siblings after my parents were gone. We now live in that home
and are redoing it, and trying to make the decision as to where we go from here.
I went to Coffeen Elementary. Having turned six in December, my school
year began in January 1942. I am sure many of you remember that program. Some of the names I remember from Coffeen are Natalie Owen, Marilyn Edwards, Margaret Frere, Barbara Kriz, Tom Donahue, Bob
Mullholland, Pete Schunk, Gene Michael, Bobby Tarrant, Joe Evangeline, Darrel Verley, Billy Hott, and Dick Runge. These are just some of the names I can recall, and it seems like yesterday that we were all there. My
first grade teacher was Miss Dickson, Mrs. Schaeffer 2nd, Miss Katherine Schill 3rd, Mrs.Swanson 4th and then I remember a Mrs.Young, and that is about it for good old Coffeen.
In the 6th grade some of us were selected to go on to summer school and it was then I was able to join the 1953 Class of SHS.Gosh there were many friends made along the years. During my high school years, it
seemed that my closest friends were Marilyn Marshall, Teresa McCarthy, Barbara Bordeaux, Donna Hoyt, and Evelyn Bylund.
The fall of 1953 found me in college in Sheridan thinking of majoring in
education. However somewhere along the way my path of life changed. I met my husband to be in the winter quarter of 1954. He had a scholarship to come back from the UW to play basketball for the
"Eagles"(now called the Generals.) I met him in front of the famous Palace Cafe which I am sure we all remember. By the way his name is Bob(Whitey) Genereaux from Big Horn. He tells me the Rams used to
scrimmage the Broncs and the Rams would win. I wonder, does any one know? We were married in May of 1956 after Bob completed his pilot training in the USAF, and his first assignment was in Rapid City, S.D. I
spent 20 1/2 years as a military wife and made many moves throughout the U.S. Unfortunately we did not have an overseas duty together. For some reason they wouldn't let me go to Korea or Viet Nam. Our military
years were good to us and during that time we managed to have five children. We have one daughter and four sons, the daughter being the oldest.
Bob retired from the Air Force in Dec. 1976. At that time we were stationed in Lubbock, Tx. We finally decided to move to the Seattle area in the fall of 1977. We remained there while our children went to
college. The three oldest graduated from Texas Tech, and our two youngest sons from the University of Washington. We have three weddings behind us and still two to go. Our only daughter and her
family live in Oak Harbor, Washington; and our two youngest sons live in the Seattle area. We have a son and family in Ormond Beach, Florida and
our oldest son and family in Allen, Texas. Our children range in age from 41 to 32. We had a grand time raising five children and now we have six
absolutely perfect grandchildren-without a doubt. The oldest is eight years and the youngest, six months. Four handsome boys and two beautiful girls.
We made the big move to Sheridan in the latter part of January l998. We still don't know how long we will be in this area but we are finding it
interesting. We have spent a lot of time redoing this "old house and the yard", and things are looking better. Each morning finds us at the "Y"
getting a little workout to keep the old bod in shape. As for a hobby, I am trying my best to learn everything about this "TOY" that I am sitting
at right now. I just get something typed and it goes away. This pretty much gives a little data on my past years, and who knows what the future holds. We are working on the next passage. It has been fun!!

I was born and raised in Sheridan. I went to Linden School all six years. Remember when Ms. Wunch gave out demerits for talking or misbehaving in class or on the school grounds? I don't remember exactly what I
did (probably talking), but in the 5th grade, I was taken around to all the classrooms by Ms. Wunch and pointed out for having set a bad example. I had received the dreaded three demerits that qualified you for the
dressing down in front of the whole school. I just knew that after the classroom route, I was going to receive a whipping with the rubber hose. Fortunately, that did not take place. This only happened once,as I
learned my lesson well.I started out 1st grade with Beverly Chieslar Kane and to this day, weremain good friends and get together every time I am in Sheridan. When at Linden, Frank and I used to go to Ted Gillenwater's
and ride their Shetland ponies. Neighborhood playmates (I was a tomboy) includedSteve Rogers, Jimmy Orr, the Sherwood twins, and Frank. All of us used to play Army in the vacant lots behind Steve's house. Every spring we
got to line up on Dr.Rogers' back porch for tick shots. Oh how they hurt.
Went to Central for the 7th grade. That was a big deal. Except.........My mom bowled with two of my teachers; Ms. Kent and Ms.
Aldrich. And they informed my mom that I was "boy crazy". Can you imagine that? Never have your mom bowl with teachers. Of course 8th grade was up on the hill by the high school and were we the big kids
now!!!!!Only one more year to go and we would be in high school. So many good memories of SHS. I loved the social aspect of school and always had a good time. I even had Helen Urmson as my Latin
tutor. (School work was not my thing.) I saw Miss. Helvey four years ago. Her eyesight was failing her, and I reintroduced myself to her as her worst nightmare as a Latin student. She got a chuckle out of that and
of course, said that wasn't true. Not enough time and paper to tell you how I migrated to Illinois, but a little about the man I was married to for almost 30 years. He was a farmer and wehad a great life. For
a "city" girl, I adapted to the rural community very well and could drive a tractor with the best of them. We had two children, a boy and a girl; and they each have one child, so I have two grands. I lost my
husband but my grandson is following in his dad's footsteps. I live in Oakland, a town of l,000, about 40 miles south of Champaign. We have a golf course and swimming
pool in our little town, so we aren't totally country. I have taken several college courses through the years, but don't have a degree. I am the "Jack of all trades, master of none." I have
driven a tractor, been a bookkeeper, worked in a sausage factory, had an upholstery shop, been a hostess in a Tea Room, ran a marina, etc. We had
a houseboat for 15 years on a lake about 45 miles from here, so felt like I also ran a floating restaurant. You never realize how many friends you have, until you purchase a houseboat. I even had Barbara Barnes,
former SHS music teacher on the boat for a weekend. Speaking of Miss Barnes, (always had trouble calling her Barbara) I lived with her for a month during the winter of '95 at her ranch in Nebr. helping her
do some cataloging, upholstering, etc. It was an interesting time. Unfortunately she died the following fall.
I suppose you could say I am retired now. I work part-time now and
then. I keep busy with children and grandchildren, the yard, and my yearly trip to Sheridan. I have a lot of SHS friends I see every year; and now of course with e-mail, it is easier to keep in touch. Up until a
month ago, when I learned of the SHS EXPRESS, I didn't have much of a life (just kidding of course). Now my time is consumed with the internet, e-mail and all of my long-lost friends. It is
great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
